Holy Week Activities in Ukrainian Village

Paska - Ukrainian Easter bread

Easter Paska - Many Eastern Europeans make special bread for the Easter Holiday, and fill Easter baskets with bread, butter, eggs, candles, all symbolizing things like the Resurrection, the passion story and the renewal that is spring. (Photo courtesy of Lidia Matwyshyn)

This year Easter will be celebrated relatively late – on April 24th.  Easter is celebrated the first Sunday after the first full moon, after the spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and the autumnal equinox in the Southern Hemisphere. This year the Western Christian Easter and the Orthodox Easter are on the same date.   Below are the dates and times for various services and events during Holy Week at various churches throughout Ukrainian Village.
